Description

In this series, Indigenous Voices on Tourism, we highlight the diverse perspectives and values of Indigenous people involved in tourism in the South Pacific, including Aotearoa New Zealand.
This episode focuses on Kohutapu Lodge, a tourism venture located outside of Murupara in the Bay of Plenty, Aotearoa. Kohutapu Lodge is associated with tourism initiatives such as Tribal Tours and Whirinaki Forest Footsteps which are based upon and promote Māori knowledge systems. The Lodge offers unique experiences which bring international tourists into contact with Māori communities, including school visits, which enable them to engage with and learn from the Indigenous people of Aotearoa.
